Our natural Gray Sea
Salt is still hand harvested on the Brittany Coast,
away from potential contamination on the shoreline.
A maze of creeks takes the seawater to natural clay
flats where, under the action of sun and wind,
evaporation occurs. This unique sea salt is gray
because of its very rich content in minerals and
trace elements. A health booster!
On sunny days a very
fine film of white salt occurs at the surface of the
flat. This white film is carefully hand picked by
the farmer and is considered as precious as gold
because of the taste it lends to food and its
scarcity. It is the "Flower of Salt". This natural
process has been known for the last 1500 years. The
Flower of Salt has been harvested on the Atlantic
shores and also on the Pacific shores since the
pre-Hispanic era. Today every health conscious
gourmet as well as the finest chefs around the world
are aware of how much the "Flower of Salt" improves
the taste of fine foods.
One simply needs to add it
as final touch to grilled meat, grilled fish,
steamed vegetables, French fries, etc. |

Good
natural Gray Sea Salt is a treasure known even by
the Romans. The word "salary" comes from the Latin "salarium".
This word meant "salt allotment" when soldiers used
to be paid in sea salt. |
